Hearing Impairment - Causes & Implications on Behavior & Learning

  This document has been compiled under the Pan Asia funded ICT R&D Grant Project, "ICT Assisted Learning Tools for the Deaf in Pakistan", with a view to assist educators, related staff and parents to gain a better understanding of major causes of deafness and associated restorative interventions and their utility in enhancing the communication and learning of the deaf community.


 Pakistan Sign Language - A Synopsis

  The study presents a descriptive scenario of the evolution and current status of disability policy and practice with special reference to the deaf population in Pakistan. Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) being the representative language of Pakistani deaf has been introduced as an essential element of such educational materials. Aimed at catalyzing further development of PSL and implementation of innovative high-outreach ICT based learning packs for deaf, the document provides a comprehensive literature review of all available PSL resources to date.

  A representative PSL signs compendium compiled for use in developing ICT educational solutions for deaf under the PanAsia ICT R&D Grant Project.
